Turners Hill is a Passivhaus development of 26 affordable homes for Hastoe Housing Association and has been designed to meet local need and give residents who have been priced out of the local housing market the ability to remain in the communities they work, live or have grown up in.
The masterplan was developed as a result of detailed studies of the surrounding rural context and the brick houses have been designed as a contemporary interpretation of the architectural vernacular of West Sussex.
Houses no more than two storeys in height are arranged in clusters within semi-private courtyards. This careful composition allows each dwelling to have a street entrance which makes the street more active and improves legibility.
Building to Passivhaus standards will ensure homes are low on energy consumption by providing a building envelope with excellent thermal performance as well as extreme air tightness.
